Short Vowels

LEARNING STANDARD-RF1.2 A (Distinguish long from short vowel sounds in a spoken single-syllable word.)
We will be starting our year off learning short vowel sounds.   Learning word parts is a very important part of making and reading words.  Below is a song to help with the sounds.
LEARNING STANDARD: RF1.4 (Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension)
I have set up List A and List B sight words to help practice mastering them this year.   The site is spellingcity and you can login using the teacher side with the login and password being the same thing:  Room 444, Room 444.   Then go to the bottom of the list and start with unit 1 until your child can read and write those words.

Counting to 100!

LEARNING STANDARD:  1NBT1 (Count to 120, read, write and represent with objects and numerals)
Students should be practicing counting and putting numbers in order from 1-120.  Here is a song to help with that.  Try to have them continue the song to take it all the way to the learning standard of 120.
Hi there.   This is Mrs. Coon's new blogspot!  I am so excited to share information with you this year.   My goal is to communicate what is happening in the classroom with you.   It will be helpful in sharing our curriculum and goals throughout the year.
